At Ready Set Rescue, every animal that comes through our doors has a story — often one of hardship, uncertainty, or neglect. Adoption is more than just giving a pet a home; it’s a chance to change a life forever.
When you choose to adopt, you’re not only providing a loving environment for a deserving animal, but also helping us make space to rescue even more animals in need.

Our Adoption Process
1. Submit an Application
Start by completing our online adoption form so we can learn more about you, your home, and what kind of companion you’re looking for.

2. Application Review
Our team carefully reviews each application to ensure every placement is the right fit. You may receive a quick follow-up call or message to discuss the animal’s needs and your experience.
3. Meet & Greet
Approved applicants are invited to meet the animal in person — either at our facility, foster home, public area or public event.
4. Adoption Fee & Paperwork
Once approved, you’ll complete our adoption contract and pay the adoption fee. Fees vary depending on species, age, and vetting completed but always help cover food, housing, and medical care.
(Ready Set Rescue is a registered 501(c)(3), EIN 33-4291221 — all fees go directly toward animal care.)
5. Welcome Home!
Adopters receive a basic care sheet, feeding info, and continued support after adoption.

Adoption Requirements
Must be 18 years or older
Must have landlord/property owner consent (if applicable)
Must agree to provide proper care, diet, and housing specific to the animal
Must complete our adoption contract and, when applicable, a sterilization agreement
For dogs and cats: all current pets in the home must be up-to-date on vaccines and sterilized
> Our sterilization agreement ensures every adopted animal is spayed or neutered at the appropriate time. This helps reduce unwanted litters and supports responsible rescue practices.
---
Sterilization Agreement
Some of our animals are too young or not yet ready for surgery at the time of adoption. In those cases, adopters must sign a Sterilization Agreement before taking the animal home.
This agreement outlines a required timeframe (usually within 30–90 days or when the animal reaches the appropriate age/weight) for spay or neuter. Proof of the procedure from a licensed veterinarian must then be submitted to Ready Set Rescue.
Failure to follow through may result in contractual action as outlined in our adoption policy. This ensures every adoption supports our mission to promote responsible pet ownership and reduce overpopulation.

Surrenders (Amarillo & Surrounding Areas)
We accept surrenders by appointment only to ensure we have proper space and resources available.
Surrender Days: Monday through Friday
