Responsible placement. Responsible intake. Animal welfare first.
At Ready Set Rescue, every placement and intake decision is made with the animal’s welfare in mind. Our space and resources are limited, so adoptions and surrender requests are handled individually and by appointment only.
Please read the information below before contacting us.
Finding the right home matters just as much as finding a home.
Animals available for adoption have different personalities, needs, histories, and care requirements. We work to make thoughtful matches that give both the animal and adopter the best chance at long-term success.
Not every animal you see through Ready Set Rescue or Critter Worx is available for adoption. Some animals are permanent residents, are still undergoing rehabilitation, or serve as educational ambassadors.
1. See an animal you’re interested in
Check our current available animals or contact us about animals currently seeking homes.
2. Submit an adoption inquiry
Tell us about your household, experience, other pets, and the type of home you can provide.
3. We review the match
Our team considers the individual animal’s temperament, needs, history, and long-term care requirements.
4. Meet by appointment
Approved applicants may be invited to meet the animal and discuss care expectations.
5. Complete the adoption
If it is a good match, we will complete the appropriate adoption paperwork and go over the animal’s care, history, and transition into your home.
Adopting an animal is a long-term commitment. We ask adopters to consider the full cost of proper housing, food, veterinary care, enrichment, and the time needed to provide a safe and appropriate home.
Our goal is not to place animals as quickly as possible. Our goal is to place them responsibly.
NEED TO SURRENDER AN ANIMAL?
Ready Set Rescue is currently accepting feline surrender requests on a very limited, space-available basis. We are not accepting dog surrenders. Reptile and exotic surrender requests continue through our dedicated surrender process below
Cat intake is:
• By appointment only
• Based on available space and resources
• Reviewed individually
• Not guaranteed
Submitting a request, leaving a voicemail, or emailing us does not mean that we have accepted the animal.
Ready Set Rescue is not an emergency veterinary hospital, animal control agency, or 24-hour intake facility.
If an animal is experiencing a life-threatening medical emergency, please contact a veterinary hospital immediately.
For stray animals, dangerous animals, animals actively threatening public safety, or situations requiring legal enforcement, please contact the appropriate local animal control or law enforcement agency.
Ready Set Rescue operates with limited housing, staff, volunteers, funding, and quarantine space.
Accepting more animals than we can appropriately care for would not be responsible rescue.
Because of this, there may be times when we cannot accept an animal, even when we genuinely want to help.
A declined intake request does not mean the animal is unimportant. It means we are protecting the welfare of the animals already in our care and staying within what our organization can safely support.
For the safety of the animals already in our care and because our available space changes frequently, please do not arrive at our facility or Critter Worx with an animal unless our team has confirmed an intake appointment with you.
We may not be able to accept an animal brought to us without prior approval.
Ready Set Rescue is currently accepting cat surrender requests on a very limited, space-available basis.
Cat surrenders are:
By appointment only
Reviewed individually
Dependent on available space and resources
Not guaranteed
Please do not bring a cat to our facility or Critter Worx without a confirmed appointment.
To request help with a feline surrender:
Call: 720-220-2258
Please leave a voicemail if we do not answer.
Email: ReadySetRescue13@gmail.com
When possible, please email photos and information about the cat, including age, sex, medical history, temperament, behavior around other animals, and the reason for surrender.
Ready Set Rescue continues to accept surrender requests for reptiles and other exotic animals.
We work with a wide range of species and evaluate each surrender based on the animal’s individual needs, health, housing requirements, available space, and our ability to provide appropriate long-term care.
Examples may include:
Snakes
Lizards
Tortoises and turtles
Birds
Small exotic mammals
Other exotic species
Because every species has different care and housing requirements, all reptile and exotic surrender requests must be submitted through our Exotic & Reptile Surrender Form.
Please provide as much information as possible, including:
Species
Age, if known
Sex, if known
Current enclosure and setup
Diet
Temperament
Handling history
Medical concerns
Photos
Reason for surrender
How quickly placement is needed
Submitting the form does not automatically guarantee intake. Our team will review the information and contact you regarding availability and next steps.
If you have found a cat, please first consider whether the animal may have an owner nearby.
When safe and appropriate:
Check for identification
Have the cat scanned for a microchip
Post in local lost-and-found pet groups
Check neighborhood groups
Contact local shelters or animal-control resources
Ask nearby neighbors
Ready Set Rescue may be able to provide guidance, but finding a cat does not automatically mean we have space to take the animal into our care.
